This elastic garter-like stitch pattern uses only sc stitches (U.S. term). The way it is worked creates a stretchy (in width and height) fabric with much thinner and delicate textured lines than the ridges of the regular sc ribbing worked in BLO.
The created fabric could be dense, so I'd recommend either using a larger sized hook than your chosen yarn usually calls for, working in a relaxed and loose fashion, or choosing a soft springy yarn, like merino wool.
Start: Ch as many as desired.
Row 1: Ch 1, sc in each ch to end. Turn.
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in FLO of first and second st at the same time*, sc in FLO of second (just used) and third st, rep working sc in FLO of previously used st and the next one to end, sc in last (already used) st. Turn.
Row 3: Same as Row 2 but working in BLO of sts.
Remaining rows: Repeat Rows 2-3.
* How to:
Insert your hook in front loop of first st in direction from front to back (as usual), return hook by inserting it in front loop of second st in direction from back to front, yo and pull through both front loops on hook, yo, pull through both loops on hook. For the odd rows, work in same manner but insert your hook in back loops of each st.
